Parts Database · working title

Understand the part.
Keep the evidence.

A local parts register for engineering research and separate design-use and resale-suitability reviews.

Keep candidate specifications, source documents, revisions, test evidence and open questions together before deciding how a part may be used.

Research before a decision

A part record with its review context.

Record the internal and manufacturer part numbers, supplier, document revision, specifications with units, interfaces, configuration and research gaps. Preserve earlier revisions rather than replacing the record silently.

Identify

Connect part identity, manufacturer and supplier references to the intended configuration.

Preserve

Retain uploaded original reports, checksums, provenance and revision context in portable backups.

Review

Record evidence applicability and a rationale for the specific design-use or resale scope.

Use external evidence or connect CR.

Standalone PD can use an original analysis, test or inspection report without a CR handoff. A compatible CR actuator handoff provides another evidence route.

AttachEnter the source, document revision, method, criteria, observations and applicability. Uploaded evidence starts unreviewed.
AssessReview the evidence separately for design use and resale suitability. Accepting a report does not approve the part.
DecideRecord the part decision and rationale for that revision and scope. A changed part revision or configuration makes earlier decisions require review.

New evidence returns both part decisions to pending. Supporting datasheets and certificates do not alone satisfy the analysis/test/inspection evidence gate. Content checksums preserve consistency; they do not authenticate an issuer or establish engineering validity.

Keep design use and resale distinct.

Design acceptance does not approve resale. Resale research must separately address condition, provenance, supplier traceability and applicable requirements. The current PD shell records user-entered internal reviews; it is not an inventory, purchasing or sales system and does not provide authenticated approvals.

PD is available as a local development package for evaluation. A standalone subscription is planned, and PD is included at no additional charge in the proposed Suite subscription. Public availability, pricing and terms follow validation and release review.
